What is this bottle found in the ocean in Belize

My husband found this bottle in the ocean while digging through sand near the shore in Belize. After cleaning it up, there are three shells that are too big to remove. The top won't come off, the critters had to have grown in the bottle. (There is a small opening in the cap.) I'm wondering how we can identify the origin of the bottle.  It's about 4.25 inches tall with a diameter just under 2 inches.

A year after my radioactive iodine treatment

Almost one year following the radioactive iodine treatment - and a year and two month after the total thyroidectomy - I had the follow up tests.  Neck ultrasound, Thyrogen injections early last week and blood tests at the end of the week.  The result are in - no trace of thyroid.   Cancer free one year and counting!

For those of you that might have pinned this blog from Pinterest:  I assume you did so because you may be facing thyroid cancer.  I have to say that I feel so much better after having the surgery and even going through the LID and RAI treatments.  I didn't realize how bad I felt until I was put on the steady dose of thyroid hormone - and began to feel good!  I was told that I probably had the cancer for five years.   No wonder I feel better!   It seems so daunting as you are going through the treatment - and the LID and radioactive iodine treatment is scary, but it's all so worth it in the end.  Feeling great and peace of mind.   Stay strong and hang in there!

Latest blood test shows no cancer - yeah!

It's been quite a while since I posted.  I had the total thyroidectomy on November 1, 2013.  I went through the low iodine diet and the radioactive iodine in January of 2014.

Then I took off for the warmer climate of California and avoided a cold Wisconsin Febrary.  Awesome!

I just had the latest blood test to check Thryoglobulin levels.  Results show no sign of cancer.  I'm pretty happy about that!

Post low iodine diet and radioactive iodine

Following the low iodine diet and dose of radioactive iodine, today I had a scan to see the results.  The results could not have been better - no spreading of the disease, the cancer is gone!!

Day 16 - low iodine diet is done!

Theoretically, I was supposed to stay on the diet for 48 hours after taking the RAI pill.  I made it about 45 hours.  I decided that a little cream in my coffee and butter on my toast was not going to make that much difference!

I did splurge at lunch - bacon cheeseburger and fries.  Wow - tasted so good!

I will probably not be posting every day at this point.  I will post the results of my scan on Tuesday.  Then, I am off to southern California to spend one month away from winter... can't wait!

Low iodine diet - day 15

This is the last full day of the low iodine diet.  I remember thinking on day two that this day seemed so far off... I'm glad it's finally here.

Last night ended up being a "yo-yo" dinner.  ("You're on your own")  However, one of the kids did cut up a tomato for me, marinated in olive oil with a bit of shallot and garlic.  It was so good.  I used my homemade bread to soak up the olive oil.  That was dinner and it was plenty!  (Well, that and a glass of wine!)

This is also the day after I received the RAI (radioactive iodine.)  I've had no ill effects from the treatment.
I'm a bit concerned because I have sore spots on either side of my neck below my ears.  It could be that lymph nodes in that area have some of the thyroid cancer cells that have spread.  It could also be nothing, so I don't want to lose sleep over worrying about it.  My scan next week will tell the tale.

So, breakfast this morning - same old... scrambled egg whites and homemade bread, toasted.  Haven't made a decision about lunch or dinner yet.  I do have to make sure I drink plenty of fluids, so I haven't been terribly hungry.

Once I've made a meal plan with my son that will do the cooking, I'll let you know what the decision was for dinner.

Lunch is fresh cut veggies with lemon olive oil drizzled over.  A rice cake with my doctored up peanut butter, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.  It's very tasty.  We decided dinner will just be some roasted chicken breast and a side of either boiled potatoes or baked sweet potatoes.

Tomorrow morning I have to get a blood test as follow up to the RAI.  After the blood test I have no obligation to stay on this diet.  I was going to stop at the nearest coffee shop for a latte, then decided how silly that was - the lattes and mochas I make at home taste so much better!  I can wait long enough to make the drive home....

Low iodine diet - day 14

I received my radioactive iodine treatment about an hour ago.   Back home, no side effects.  I did get anti-nausea medication just in case.

I was nervous this morning, so I didn't eat much.  Just a half of a banana.  Now, of course, I am really hungry!  I am going to make the shake like drink from my pinterest page - LID tips and recipes

No idea what dinner is - I can't prepare food for the family.  I'll come up with an idea for Luke to make something.  I'll post later after we figure it out.
